What we make

Five things, done properly.

Most of what leaves the workshop lands on acreage. Entrance gates, paddock fencing, shelters and stables, plus the one‑off pieces nobody else will quote on.

Black horizontal-slat sliding entrance gate on a stone-pillar driveway

Entrance gates

Swing and sliding. Traditional farm gates in galvanised or powder coat, through to modern slat gates hung off stone pillars. Made to the opening you actually have, not a standard size forced to fit.

Galvanised steel post-and-rail fencing with mesh infill across a paddock

Fencing & stock yards

Steel post and rail, mesh infill for dogs and foals, paddock gates, yard panels and races. Built to take a knock from an animal that outweighs you and keep standing.

Open-sided steel field shelter with colorbond roof over a paddock

Shelters & stables

Field shelters, day yards, stable partitions, doors and grills. Steel frames that go up straight on uneven ground and do not rust out in five years.

Black steel balustrade and gate around a raised residential verandah

Balustrades & handrails

Verandah and pool balustrade, stair rails, ramp rails and bollards. Residential through to compliant handrails on public buildings.

Laser-cut steel screen with leaf pattern wrapped around a rainwater tank

One‑off custom work

Laser cut screens, fire pits, trailers, stock crates, tipper bodies, stainless pipework, shed doors. If you can sketch it on the back of an envelope, Ned can usually build it.

Repairs & mobile welding

The truck carries the welder. Cracked gate frame, snapped bracket, a job that cannot leave the property, Ned comes to you across the Wollondilly and Macarthur.

Mobile call outs suit repairs bundled with other work. For a single small weld, give him a ring and he will tell you straight whether it is worth the trip.

Recent work

Thirty jobs off the truck.

Every photo below is a job Ned built and installed. No stock images, no renders.

How it works

Photo. Price. Built.

No quoting portal, no three week wait, no salesman turning up in a branded ute.

  1. 1

Send a photo and a rough size

Text it through, or ring and describe it. A photo of the opening or the spot it is going saves a trip and gets you a number faster.

  2. 2

    You get a straight price

One number, what it covers, and when he can start. If it needs a site measure first, Ned will tell you that instead of guessing.

  3. 3

    Built and installed

Fabricated in the workshop, finished in galvanising or powder coat, then installed on site. The same bloke who quoted it is the bloke who hangs it.

Straight up

The work that suits us best.

Ned works on his own. That is deliberate, and it decides which jobs go well.

The sweet spot is a job one experienced tradesman can own start to finish. A set of entrance gates. A run of paddock fencing. A shelter or a stable fit out. A one off piece nobody else will take on.

Large multi‑crew commercial contracts are not it, and neither is a two minute weld on a trailer hitch. Nearly everything between those two, he is your man.

If you are unsure which side of that line your job sits on, ring him. He will tell you honestly, and point you elsewhere if that is the right answer.

About

Ned Daher.

Twenty five years welding and fabricating, fifteen of them running Ned's Mobile Steel Fabrication out of the Wollondilly.

The business is one man, a fully equipped workshop and a truck that carries the welder to site. That is why the work is consistent. There is no apprentice learning on your gate and no third party install crew who has never met the person who made it.

Questions

The ones we get asked most.

How much does a set of entrance gates cost?

It depends on the span, the style and the finish, so nobody honest will give you a number over the internet. What helps is a photo of the opening and a rough width. Ned will come back with a real price rather than a range wide enough to drive a truck through.

Do you do small repair jobs?

Yes, though it depends where you are. A repair on its own can be hard to justify the travel for. If you are inside the Wollondilly, or the repair can be bundled with other work, it is usually fine. Ring and ask.

Galvanised or powder coat?

Hot dip galvanising is the tougher option and it is what most farm gates and yard work gets. Powder coat over galvanised is what you want when the look matters, like a slat gate at the front of the house. Ned will tell you which one suits the job and the budget.

Do you install, or just fabricate?

Both. Nearly everything is installed by the same person who built it. That is the whole point of the mobile setup.

How long is the wait?

It moves with the season. Ask when you call and you will get the real answer, not a number designed to hold the job.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. NSW Fair Trading licence 221941C, and ten million dollars of public and products liability cover. Happy to send the certificate of currency through if your builder or body corporate needs it.

Can you work from a drawing or a picture off the internet?

Yes. A lot of jobs start as a screenshot. Send it through and Ned will tell you what it takes to build the real version.

Send a photo of what you need.

Fastest way to a number. A picture of the opening, the gap or the broken bit, and a rough measurement.

Ned answers the phone himself. If he is under a helmet he will ring you back.
